Should Food Carry Labels Warning Parents Of Its Potential As A 'Choking Hazard'? Let's hear your thoughts?

I agree with the tone and position of the article.

It's absurd to have to warn parents a child could choke to death on a hot dog. For that matter you can choke to death on ANYTHING if it goes down the wrong way.

If anything government should require teaching the Heimlich (sp) manuever to deal with that common problem. Many restaurants do have classes to teach it to employees and most have it posted in the kitchen ... as it was not the hot dog that tried to slip down the windpipe, it could have been ANY food.

Oh . . .. .

So I guess my suggestion of prompting children to gulp their food in an effort to make them silent is a bad thing? Is the bedtime snack I feed my children (Brandy and a Seconal) bad too? I suppose, next thing you are going to tell me is that I have to supervise my 2 year old while he is taking a bath in water 2 inches from the top of the tub.

REMIND YOUR CHILD ... They could be hit by a car if they play in the street.

CARS should have signs on them: CHILDREN do not walk out in front of me, you could be injured" ...... across the front and flashing at night.

WARNING TO KIDS: If you climb a tree and fall out you could break bones.

If parents would teach their children to properly chew their food this wouldn't be a problem. And, have them eat at the table and not in the car with fast foods would help tremendously. When is the parents responsibility going to kick in?

The food industry didn't make these people buy or eat this food. Now the food industrial will be forced to change labels and that expense will be passed on to the consumer. That means you will be paying higher prices for food.

You all know that people don't read signs. A friend of mine used to put a sign on her door at work that read "Out To Lunch" whenever she went to lunch. She told me, "I don't know why I waste my time doing that every day because they knock right on the sign.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
