In asking that question, I think one has to address the larger question of how much relief would it bring to the "drug problem" in America and what would be the consequences of such actions. Once we do that, where do we stop with legalizing? Is it cocaine?
Is is crack? Is it meth? Is it heroin?
Obviously all of these drugs affected different people in different ways...some see no habitual aspect of any of it. Others become hooked with one sniff. Do you outlaw whiskey yet continue to sell beer?
It is a very gray area. WB.
In the words of Sarah Palin, "you betcha! "I do not believe in the outlawing of any thing which God created and placed upon this earth for human and animal consumption. Where does such an accepted concept end?
Could someone decide that salt is bad for me and outlaw it? How about broccoli? Yeah sure, broccoli doesn't get you high, but who got to decide that just because a plant can get you high it ought to be outlawed?
Maybe it has other uses and maybe getting high occasionally isn't actually a bad thing? And what is the impact the outlawing of marijuana has had upon the ecosystem? You never hear about that!
Cannabis is a native to India and Iran, yet it is illegal there. Where is the sense in that? I'm sick of people trying to tell me that what God put on this earth for all to enjoy is evil and needs to be kept away from me!
Genetically modified frankenfoods good, God's green herb bad. Have we lost all sense?
If,it hadn't been demonized for nefarious reasons by hollywood for it's mind altering qualities with movies like reefer maddness which is fiction portaying reality we wouldn't need to legalize it today. Hemp which is closely related to marajuana ,but has been used in the unitedstates since before we officially became a country was used to make the paper the constutution was written on and the fabric the flag was made of ,and the uniforms the soldiers wore. The chemical manufacturers wanted to sell chemical to breakdown wood fiber for paper making and the land owners wanted to sell wood for the same purpose.
Absolutely. There are many reasons why the drug is still illegal, most of the ignoring common sense. A lot of the reason marijuana was made illegal had to do with racism, fear, and downright misinformation.
The mere fact that it has been illegal for so long is a large part what keeps prohibition going.
By being pro drug war you-impose heavy cost on the population to protect people from their own choices-help create a great incentive for government to take away more of our civil liberties. Agree government should be violently involved in peoples personal habits. -advocate using lethal force to imprison nonviolent people into a violent prison system making their lives worse than drugs themselves ever could.(So you think being stupid is a reason to go to jail)-help the drug cartels stay in power having a monopoly over drugs-cannot come to the understanding that the drug war has and will never be successful.
-Should consider whether you think alcoholics should be imprisoned. If not then why? Think critically.
-the U.S. Has spent hundreds of billions on this. Will you support it when it costs trillions? -was there more violence when drugs were legal or now when they are illegal?
Yes it should be and I have plentiful reasons why.1. The people have voted in 16 states with 10 pending. 2.
Medical purposes3. Our trillion dollar deficit would disappear in about a decade 4. Millions of people would stop getting illegal drug use and possession charges that mess their future up.5.
Tourist would flock here and spend more money.6. Jobs would flourish in the cultivation and selling of the crop.7. Hemp would become more accessible which in turn could be useful for far more reasons than I know.
Yes and no. Sure people love their weed but it would make some people increadibly unproductive. If it was to be legalized I feel it should be 21+ and unavailable to people on welfare.
Jjobless and high will result in, well no need to get a job because they are high. Everything in moderation.
Plus many states have medical marijuana laws. Hummmm, the medical community agrees that marijuana has it's place in helping and healing the mind and body. Again we, are not talking about health issues.
And if your planning on bringing up the "pot is bad for the lungs" argument - think vaporizer or by ingesting it in tasty food .
I agree. 100%. Silly law that causes major destruction in our society.
People still smoke it just like they drank alcohol during prohibition. The same laws that apply to alcohol should apply to marijuana.
Because the government would have to explain why they've wasted bazillions of dollars on something that is so mild. Because the old people who's minds were rotted with Reefer Madness aren't dead yet. Because the government has too much money invested in the illegal drug trade.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
