Should members stop complaining about Askville and answer questions? What good does complaining do?

I think the complaining drive people away. They think the site is unhelpful and not high quality. Members need to be careful about being to critical.

I would rather see answers than complaints. Asked by GoldenLion 14 months ago Similar questions: members stop complaining Askville answer questions Amazon > Askville.

Unfortunately, with people like you spewing drivel 24/7, there is a severe lack of quality questions to answer.

You missed a spot GoldenLion 14 months ago .

Complaints are a way to communicate. Why not? .

I want Ruby inquistive. It is the design of the system. If the system designers did not want questions than they would have limited the number of question submissions.

Many people agree with you that the complaints will force the staff to return the site back to the old format. How do you solve the localized discussions that don't get public view problem? GoldenLion 14 months ago .

Sounds to me like you are complaining about the complainers.

Therefore, the question become circular and impossible to answer. GoldenLion 14 months ago .

People who only care about themselves and their own achievements turn people away. People who have no consideration for others drives people away. People who only see their side of things drives people away.

People who are told over and over that their behavior is not helpful drives people away. A site that allows these type of people to continue drives people away.

No one agrees with you! Take a step back and look at yourself. If you know what you are doing is annoying us, as many of us have told you, then stop!

.

No, you are. Can you not see it from our responses here and many to many of your other questions? .

You are hopeless GL! You really think we are all wrong and you are right? Sound familiar to you?

Yes, maybe the time has come to stop complaining. But, I agree with Gary4books. Some times it's hard for when you get used to something being one way, & then someone changes it.At least we should have got a vote on the changes.

I mean, it looks to me like a total make over on this site. Although I do appreciate the fact that a lot of the long time members are sticking it out. It's like visiting family. MrItty is right though about the lack of quality on some of the questions that gets asked.

Well, just my opinions.

You really don't. You can't truly be that stupid, can you? Let me try, one more time, to be clear:STOP POSTING YOUR CRAPPY QUESTIONS!

WE DON'T LIKE THEM, AND BY EXTENSION, WE DON'T LIKE YOU! GO BACK TO HI5, OR ANYWHERE BUT HERE! And no once cares what you would rather see.

Go away.

It's clear you don't listen to me. But take a look at the rest of the comments here, particularly what ChainOfThought posted. Look at all the "helpful" votes that MrItty, Carla, and MorningDew got.

I am NOT the only one who wants you to stop posting! There are lots of us. And if you cared at all about *our* feelings, or cared at all about what people think of you here, or cared at all about the quality of Askville, you would heed our requests.

Yes, people should stop complaining. But they won't.

I think the complaining is making the site look unhelpful. GoldenLion 14 months ago .

If people want to complain, than they can complain. And I completely disagree with you. I rather see complaints than answers because maybe they will change the site back to how it SHOULD be.

Until then, deal with the complaining.

The complaints are very negative. Negative complaints have a branding affect. The comments are often not objective and hurtful to people.

They make people not feel welcome and included. Will the site change back? GoldenLion 14 months ago .

I really hope it does change back but it probably won't. :/ .

The longer term members pf AV liked how it was before the changes....you are free to ask all of your questions, even if they annoy some people but, by the same token, people are free to complain about the changes that were made here. You don't get to scold members for being critical, it's not your place. BTW, Who are you getting feedback from that says "they" think the site is unhelpful and not high quality?

I presupposed the mind of the new member. When I think of how a new member sees the site with so many complaints, it sends the message, "there is a problem with the site". GoldenLion 14 months ago .

I'm not entirely sure how you could pre-suppose the mins of new members given the wide variety of individuals that AV attracts. Unless, of course, yours is a computer generated profile that was put into service by the mods to mindlessly generate questions that would be less than controversial and, thus, you have access to the feedback given about this site.....As far as there being a problem with this site, you hit that one on the head. The old AV was a community, and while all of our community members didn't always get along, we did o.k......when push came to shove, such as if someone was ill or there was a death in someones family, the whole community turned out to wish that person well or comfort them.

That's what we miss and for you to assume that it is your place to tell anyone to get over it because we are making AV look bad to new people is presumptious and a bit arrogant, we all get to have our say here. You get to ask questions, people get to gripe, whatever.

Thanks for the insightAv is a more personal site rather than research GoldenLion 14 months ago .

The people who are complaining have been here for a while. We remember when we had good, interesting quesions. We had questions that people wanted to answer not just questions that look like someone just opened a book and started spouting facts in question form.

FYI! Asking questions that people have an interest in would change a lot of the griping here. Just saying.....

Change comes about when enough people get pissed about something and make their dissatisfaction known. It appears they (whoever the "they" is - if they even exist) are trying to drive off us "old-timers" who have been here a while and populate this place with a generation of newbies who average about 12 years of age and have all the brainpower of a fungus if current questions are any indication. There used to be good, intelligent questions asked on this site.....not mindless drivel.

Now, with luck, there might be one intelligent question asked each day - and it winds up getting pulled for being too controversial. This place used to be a good place to come and exchange thoughts and ideas - not always with people who agreed with you either - but the new system has made it a mindless site for idiots who are incapable of doing their homework or knowing how to go to the Amazon home page, none of them capable of spelling even a simple 4-letter word. The way this site has been ruined is a disgrace, totally sad and pathetic.

The old people will just leave...since complaining did not help. Askville was awesome before and they used to listen to people...respond to them.

I will stop complaining, once they(Amazon,or Mod Squad) fix some of the crap they did to this once great site. And as for high quality it used to be before those really bad changes that turned it into a sub average Q+A site for 2nd graders.

If you wants us to stop bitching tell your Boss to fix this site! .

I can see you pushing for more questionsI slow down questions and get this type of answer GoldenLion 14 months ago .

Pls answer if you know the answer!" "Is it better to answer these questions threw Askville, or MTurk. " "How do you apply to answer questions for askville? " "Is it me or are the questions on Askville getting harder to answer?

Is it better to answer these questions threw Askville, or MTurk.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
