Should we get Dark or light countertops with cherry (medium color) cabinets, country maple floors and white appliances?

1 I'd say light. Everything else (other than the appliances) is dark. Maybe a light red or yellow for a bit of color.

2 Get a sample of the paint and hold it up against the other colors, then you will have a better idea of what it will look like. And remember oil paint does not stick if painted over latex (water based paint). :) .

3 Get some sample swatches of light and medium colors(no more dark). And see what looks good to you. As I always say."Make sure "YOU" like it because you have to look at it everyday".

Also country Maple is typically light, did you leave it natural or apply a stain prior to finishing? If the floor is lighter toned then it seems to me that a medium or darker tone countertop is going to add some contrast to what you have. But, take samples and see how it looks in the room.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
