Mad Men' is a popular show because it is not just very entertaining, but it also does a marvelous job at touching on several other topics that pique people's interest: American life in the 60s, sexism, adultery, racism, drinking, etc. It is a suspenseful show that also serves as a reminder of how different things were, how far we've come, and how much further we need to go. The topics covered on the show feel very relevant now, despite the show being a period piece. Furthermore, as evidenced by things such as AskMen making Don Draper their Man of the Year, the main character of Don Draper on the show is one of the more multifaceted characters seen on television in recent years, and most men can relate heavily to at least some aspect of his persona.
In essence, it is a very entertaining show that also benefits from being a period piece (which always makes things interesting) that happens to touch nerves in modern Americans with its realistic multidimensional characters and its no holds barred approach to presenting a look at American society and culture.
The hype about Mad Men is that it is a compelling television show about the ad business in the 1960's. The cast and writers of Mad Men have told the story with lots of passion and full of poetry.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
