Switched to a Comcast cable broadband connection in the Fall. Since that time, noticed some very odd behaviour. Background info:computer of concern running xp pro.

Running wireless/wired home network through a D-link DI-634M wireless 802.11g mimo router, which, obviously, has a built in hardware firewallalso use zonealarm pro (6.5) software firewall -- longtime user and advocate of this program, and enjoy the multiple layers of protection. Use IE7 (since beta, not that that matters)Anyway, I will be browsing the internet, happy and free, when my new pages just won't open. Nothing specific changes on the modem status lights or anything, but I get the dreaded "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"Here's the odd thing: If I shutdown ZoneAlarm Pro, browsing goes back to normal!

I get a similar situation with my D-Link 624. I have Insight, though and it will suddenly shut off and them come back, usually after I reset the router and sometimes the Cable modem. So I started looking into it.

And my cable modem was 10mps at the ethernet side. Ah... Ok. So I poked around in my router and set it to 10 instead of auto and yahoo - no more lockups.

I work for an isp and I know with physcial hardware like linksys routers customers will often have this problem until they update their routers to the lastest firmware. It may be possible that there is an update out there for your software firewall as well that would fix the problem..
