To accept or not to accept? what would you do?

Iv been recamended and chosen as a employee for my hard work. Witch is nice but there are many recamended other much harder working employees that have been there much recamended longer than I have (iv only been here for 8 months) that deserve this luncheon and this recognition... my thought is not only do these older employees deserve it ore than I do but that also they will have a tangancy to resent me for receiving this honor tomorrow, so what do I do... Congratulations, if so! You are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. You do have to accept the acknowledgment of the honor, there is no question; to reject it would be rude to your employer and would leave a bad impression to them, I think.

And yes, you will have some of your fellow employees upset with you. No matter who is chosen, probably, there will be people who resent them and feel that they should have been chosen. But they weren't--you were.

If the humbleness you have expressed here is sincere, and it sounds like it is, then continue with that same attitude, and that's about all you can do. Acknowledge the honor, but always remember to acknowledge those that have helped you and that you also feel others are just as deserving. But don't downplay all the hard work and effort that you have done!

Time on the job doesn't always equate with GOOD WORK on the job, and those that feel that they deserve the honor more than you based on their time are obviously mistaken. You EARNED this honor; accept it graciously and continue with the good work. Perhaps those that grumble and complain that you got it will never get it, and that kind of behavior could be the reason why they won't.

Congratulations! Accept it gracefully. Some people obviously thought you deserved it, so you likely do.

If they wanted someone else to have gotten it, they would have nominated someone else. How do you know they weren't recommended before you joined the company? I think the fact that you're even having these thoughts mean you really really do deserve it!

Be proud and enjoy your day! There's always going to be someone who resents you for something. Ignore them.

If they slight you, be as friendly as you can in return. Do not let them drag you down to their level. Congratulations and have a wonderful celebration!

But, you are wise to consider the harmony of your team. Here’s a thought. You will probably have the opportunity to say a couple sentences when you receive the award.

Maybe you could work on crafting these 3-5 sentences with a friend (keep it short! ). Things you might want to communicate: How much you have loved working here since you started a few months ago and how great the company is (that’s the gag me with a spoon remark for your boss...) Consider thanking a number of the old timers (name names only if it is a small number and you won’t leave someone out) for teaching you how to do this job and all the things about the company you needed to learn (this is to acknowledge the help of those more experienced teammates without whom you couldn’t have accomplished what you did...I don’t see a crime in being overly generous here--as long as you are and sound sincere) Good luck with this.

Accept it This recognition is for you, for what you have done, it has nothing to do with them. They will get theirs in time. At least the Man sees fit to honor hard working people, thats a blessing.

You earned this award, so accept it gracefully. Do not apologize to anyone, or say you are sorry that they didn't get it. They just haven't gotten theirs YET.

I hope they choose to share in your joy just like you will share in theirs when that happens. If they choose to resent you for a decision the Man made, thats their problem. (resentment is swallowing poison, to make the other guy die..) .

1 WOW I really fudged the spelling and I have no idea why it repeated that word... any ways, iv decited to go to the luncheon and accept the award. Its the first of its kind. Iv had alot of guilt over being awarded this but I know iv worked hard for this company in 8 months I haven't failed to come in when others called off work over time and double time never called in sick.

I guess im just a modest person but I know theres other employees that deserve this award... from now on I know only that they will be recognized in the bi-weekly news letter. I just hope I don't fudge up tomorrow when I meet the owner of the company! Lol .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
