To what is a CobraNet network synchronized?

The CobraNet network is synchronized to a single CobraNet device on the network known as the conductor. The conductor generates a timebase from a crystal oscillator or receives it from an external clock source. Based on this timebase, the conductor regularly broadcasts beat packets onto the network.
