1 The Operations Group commander on my base sent out an email reminding everyone that today was D-Day. He was sad that he didn't hear one thing about it on the news or anywhere else, instead covering the election, Britney/whatever latest celeb is in trouble, etc.
2 I believe the only mention I heard was on story Channel which was running their shows on the planning and execution of D-Day. How sad is that! .
3 That is so sad. We owe those guys so much and owe Britney and that crew of sleazeballs nothing. Your Group commander is to be commended for bringing it to everyone's attention.
We are losing our WWII vets at an alarming rate now and it's so important to keep the memories of their sacrifices alive. The fellow who lived next door to me when I was growing up was in the D-Day invasion and a more patriotic man you'd never met. He traveled to France for the 50th anniversary, spending some time in Britain as well as France.
He never talked too much about his experiences and now I wish I had been less shy and asked a question or two. Remember all the vets, but today our WWII vets. Where would we be without them?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
