Your subtitle says switching from windows XP to office for small business, but office for small business is an office application suite, and windows XP is your operating system. One does not replace the other. If you are upgrading from windows xp to windows vista, then depending on how you do the upgrade, and how your computer is setup, you may or may not lose your data.

If you only have everything on C:\ drive, and do a clean-install of vista, then you will lose everything If you only have everything on C:\, and do an upgrade from XP, then you will most likely to have all your data files, given that nothing went wrong during the installation, and none of your files are saved in the Windows directory. If you have multiple hard disks or partitions, (e.g. C:\, and E:\) and you happen to save all your data files in the E:\ partition while keeping your operating system on C:\, then you should be able to have all your data files. However, if you did a clean install, you will most likely to install all the programs.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
