USB flash drive detected by laptop but it can't be opened. What can I do?

USB flash drive detected by laptop but it can't be opened. What can I do? I bought an USB flash drive, I connected it to my laptop, I opened it and I copied a file.

Everything was fine until I tried to open it again and there was this message : There is no disk in the drive. Insert a disk and try again. The computer its detecting the drive but it is confusing it with a cd or dvd drive.

I already tried changing the drive letter, uninstalling the drive controller and installing it again (it worked at first, I could open it but the computer froze and when I restarted it I couldn't open it again), removing it safely and connecting it again. 1 All flash drives have a little 'proection' switch. Kind of like the tab you punched out on a VHS tape, to protect it from being over written. Look for this switch on your USB flashdrive, and see if that helps.

You can also try the flash drive on ANOTHER computer, if it does it there too, then it's the flash drive for sure.

2 Sorry Scarecrow, you are talking about SD cards. Not all USB "flash drives" have this feature.
