We just hooked up DSL from Embarq/Sprint. When someone uses our cordless phone, we aren't on the internet any more. Have we traded one demon for another?

With 'dial-up' no one could call us if we were on line. No we get kicked off line when the phone rings. Geez.

We installed all the phone filters but now the phones sound like you're talking through a tin can. When you pass by the phone base unit, the phone gives off an electronic screech. Good grief, is this progress?

I'm electronically challenged as it is so talking to tech support is like calling a foreign country. I need help :o) Asked by HELENofTROY 60 months ago Similar questions: hooked DSL Embarq Sprint cordless phone internet Computers > Internet.

That sounds like one phone has a faulty filter or is missing a filter I had the exact same problem recently when one of my filters failed. Here is how to figure out what's going on:1. Unplug ALL phones from the jacks.2.

Plug a CORDED phone back in (if you have one) with a filter (remember: the filter plugs into the jack first, and then the phone cord into the filter). See if it works, and if it doesn't, skip to step 4.3. If that works, continue this process for every phone in the house. You should be left with a single filter that doesn't work, so call your ISP and tell them you need a replacement.4.

If it didn't work for any of the filters, make sure no phone or fax machine or anything is plugged into any jack. If nothing is plugged in, I would recommend you call the phone company and they should be able to send a technician out to figure out the problem. Sources: My knowledge .

Most likely your phone and wireless are operating on the same frequency (900mHz). If you buy a new phone it should stop. Unfortunately many wireless internet set-ups and cordless phones operate in the 900mHz frequencies.

The two often interfere with each other. I hate to say "buy a new phone", but most new cordless phones operate in the 2.4gHz range, so they don't interfere with wireless internet access. That is the most non-technical thing you can do to prevent the problem.

Otherwise you will have to fool with the frequency settings on the wireless internet and the phone to make sure they don't overlap (which involves some fairly high skill in the networking field). Not impossible, just more difficult than buying a new phone. Sources: My family operates a wireless ISP (mainelywired.com) and we run into this all the time when setting up new customers..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
