Sounds like the grout was not epoxy and water has caused it to fade by not being sealed.

Thanks for your reply. This is a new job just done through Lowe's. Bathroom was not tiled before but we made our order, which was a large order (almost $10K), and in the process, the salesman forgot to add grout for the bathroom.

The grout was not filled to the top of the lines, like I thought it should be, and it looked "white-ish". I worked on it yesterday and although it looks better than he had left it, it still changed to the white-ish look. That's why I wrote and asked the question.

I've never had anything to do with grout before and was nervous about even fooling with it. Since you mentioned epoxy, I went to the garage and looked at the bag he had left behind and looked at Lowes. Com to see what it says.

Needless to say, two reviews showed they had the same problem with the stuff. Thank you for your response. I will be going to Lowe's tomorrow to let them know what happened.

We had been over there the other day and told the Asst Manager what was going on. She said she could send them back to do the job right but we decided we'd rather do it ourselves. Now that I see that they did not use the correct product (the product they should have used was shown on this same webpage), I know what my complaint is going to be.

You're welcome. The installer should have picked up on the error too.

Too much sealer will opalize and you'll see white spots. You can try grout cleaner but most times the only workable solution is to remove and replace the grout and follow the directions on the grout sealer very carefully.

We have not put any sealer on the grout. We wanted the grout job to be perfect before we sealed it. I think we have found the answer to our problem - they used the wrong grout, not an epoxy grout.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
