The Senate is going to vote along party lines...though the bill did not pass that way. There were not enough votes among Dems to pass the Health Care bill until Obama took $400 million from the jobs stimulus bill to bribe Senator Nelson of Nebraska and Sen. Landieu of Louisiana to change their votes and vote FOR the bill.
Failing that bribe the bill would not have passed the Senate. You know the GOP did not have any input or any power to stop that bill at any time. It could have passed the first time it appeared, which is when Pelosi tried to get it passed the day before the summer recess when Congress is anxious to leave and passes a bundle of housekeeping bills to keep Gov working while they are not in session.
The Health Care bill was first attempted that way and was stopped by moderate Dem Congressmen who declined to pass it that way. If you have to use $400 million in bribes, or to hide the bill under the one that pays the janitors at the Capitol, then the bill was seen even by Dems as flawed from the beginning. It was the Dems who did not pass it and then did after the political corruption took place.
The current House vote is a demonstration that the bill needs to be revisited in a bipartisan manner, a Senate vote against the repeal would be a symbol of nonpartisan rule left over and political corruption. What do the people want? Well, thats what brought all of those new GOP and some Dem legislators to Congress.
The people want a more sane bill and one that does not punish the middle class who pays for all of these wide eyed socialist programs that Obama wants.
Majority Republicans in the House stood unified for the 245-189 with 3 dems siding with us and reid will fight it all the way to his being voted out.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
