What are some differences between a "Jehovahs Witness" and christianity?

James is simply saying that if you ‘say' you are a Christian, then there had better be some appropriate works manifested or your faith is false. This sentiment is echoed in 1 John 2:4 which says, "If you say you have come to know Him, yet you do not keep His commandments, then the truth is not in you and you are a liar." Apparently, there were people who were saying they were Christians, but were not manifesting any of the fruit of Christianity.

Can this faith justify? Can the dead ‘faith' that someone has which produces no change in a person and no good works before men and God be a faith that justifies? Absolutely not.

It is not merely enough to say you believe in Jesus. You must actually believe and trust in Him. If you actually do, then you will demonstrate that faith by a changed and godly life.

If not, then your profession is of no more value than the same profession of demons: "We believe Jesus lived." Notice that James actually quotes the same verse that Paul uses to support the teaching of justification by faith in Rom. 4:3.

James 2:23 says, "and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘and Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.'" If James was trying to teach a contradictory doctrine of faith and works than the other New Testament writers, then he would not have used Abraham as an example. Therefore, we are justified by faith. That is, we are made righteous in the eyes of God by faith as is amply demonstrated by Romans.

However, that faith, if it is true, will result in deeds appropriate to salvation. After all, didn't God say in Eph. 2:8-10, "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." http://carm.org/are-we-justified-faith-r... What is the relationship between faith and works? http://www.carm.org/questions/about-doct...

We all 'see it' a certain way. To me, it would be a wake up call. I think it was meant that way.

If I have faith and NOTHING comes of it. I sit back, eat, drink and be merry, knowing I am saved, waiting to go home, what will happen? Am I not going to become useless?

It's like someone deciding they didn't have to work any more for a living, just get welfare. Not many of us are like that, and most don't like to see it, either. I think it was the normal outgrowth of the first group being so 'on fire' and the new ones coming along, and maybe 'riding on their coattails'.

Works exist everywhere, small ways, big ways. They keep us alive. Because James says that if I don't have any works, then my faith is dead.

Faith will abound, will outwork. Where? When?

Often daily. To me, works are part of 'destroying the works of the devil'. Now the devil is busy destroying, hurting people, turning them away from the Lord, ruining their business, their ways.

Just today I had to take in a form to the government, and it was late. I noticed a young woman all upset because it sure looked as if maybe she wouldn't even get in to see someone. Everyone was sitting like a statue...mute, you know I think what I mean.

I spoke to her. Everyone whipped their heads around, in total SHOCK! I spoke!

I shattered the silence. I talked to her about worry, for she looked very worried. Soon I had her smiling and able to cope with waiting.

We thought there was only one worker there, seemingly busy endlessly with some people. But no, hidden within the warren there, seemed to be possibly two more people. I put up my two fingers (non-verbal here) and she started to laugh.

I talked about how dementia starts early and it starts with worry, and she was able to hear this, nodded and saw that she would have to do something. Now, maybe your concept of 'works' and mine is very different. But mine is 'do good in the land'.

Those to me are works. Sometimes I share the good message, sometimes it is just to uplift. Those things enhance my faith.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
