What arts and/or creative pursuits (besides writing) do you do?

Scrapbooking, cookie decorating, cupcake decorating, painting, beading, paper crafts, sewing and just about anything else found at Hobby Lobby or Michaels! I've tried just about everything once!

A couple of Christmas's ago, my daughter bought me oils, brushes and canvases. I had never painted, but loved to draw and won some awards while in grade school. I gave it a try and am enamored with painting.

Before I was laid off, my workplace encouraged my artistic endeavors and hung several of my paintings in our cafe. I sold several paintings, without that intent, but one to a vendor who saw a new painting of mine and "had to have it". One of the most encouraging remarks related to my painting came from a business owner who came into my workplace and saw one of my first paintings.

He asked to hold it to see it up close. He told me he had majored in art at Washington University in St. Louis, and he would never be the painter he considered me to be.

Right now, I am painting from a photo that my upstairs neighbor commissioned me to do as a gift for her twin sister. Most of my paintings are inspired by photographs I see in magazines. I fear my style has become too compulsive, as most of those that initially look at my paintings think they are photographs.

I have become (although I have not been painting but a couple of years) locked into looking at an example of what I want to paint rather than using my imagination. I want every detail in my painting! But, it is in our differences in style and technique that makes art what it is.

You can get some idea from my favourite Hubbing subject.

I am an artist and work with many types of media. My mostly work with oils. I also use acrylics, water colors and charcoals.

I started painting as a stress reliever. I liked it so much, I was making so many paintings and didn't know what to do with them. So I put some in a art show and sold all but one.

Creating abstract artworks: technique action-painting- so much fun playing with colours. Including charcoal drawings, collage.....and I dream of playing piano.

Wow, after reading all the responses here I am a little intimidated and took a pause before deciding to write anything...but here goes...

I always have creative ideas in my head, it is sad to think that they slip away but the reality of life doesn't allow for every idea to be painted, written or even fully considered. I have been painting since college and in the last few years I have picked up an interest in working with wool felt which could be described as painting with texture.

This photo is of the first piece I created using a technique called felt painting, there are other ways to work with felt that I use as well.

What a struggle it can be to have varying artistic interests since when you focus on one you are neglecting the other. Maybe I am confusing this with Mother's guilt...lol.

Right now mostly jewelry making, card making, and counted cross-stitch. I also make a number of button products for craft fairs (magnets, tacks, etc. ). As my user name suggests, I enjoy a lot of creative pursuits and pick up random projects fairly often.

I love to sketch and read. However, I devote so much time writing on HubPages that I am almost neglecting my other two favorite hobbies. How sad!

... Well, I love creating ceramic art, that's my number one. I've recently gotten into painting with acrylics, and that's a real pleasure. I'm also working on large charcoal drawings and have recently bought a pastels kit.

Charcoal is great because it's such a cheap artistic hobby. Woodburning pens are also something I enjoy using. I'm hoping to make a crafty art & poetry book in the near future too!

Thanks for the great question.

My hobby is drawing. You can check out my works here.

I still have to improve on it though. I'm also planning to make a hub about how I do my works later.

Music is my original pursuit. Writing follows. Crochet.

Some painting, though in that matter I am definitely not an artist. I cannot draw a stick man. Photography.

These are upper most in my artistic agenda.

Music! Playing drums and recording music. Also web design!

For me it's painting, both digitally and traditionally and you can see some evidence of this on one of my hubs and gallery website.

I'm a professional singer/pianist for cruise lines, hotels, parties and recordings.

I have a teaching degree in music and love helping others to reach their singing and piano goals. It's always fun to teach others.

Photography, training bonsai, painting, and drawing.

I draw, both on paper and on computer software using a Wacom tablet. I also paint with acrylics or watercolour paints.

I have a small side business that I stencil shirts. Someone orders a shirt with a phrase or saying, and I paint/stencil it onto the shirt. I also do this with totebags and cell phone cases.

I would really like to expand my business someday :).

I also play the piano, and I would love to take up the violin.

Photography, baking, and travel. Travel is a big one for me, because I am able to put myself in a different place and let my imagination run wild.

I like to sing Carnatic music. Also I'm a painter, focused mainly in fabric painting.

I enjoy drawing, painting with water colors (or at least trying to! ), sewing, house projects (ie: building book shelves), and dabbling in graphic design. I'm not necessarily good at any of these things, but I sure love to try!

Acrylic painting, drawing (sketches and cartooning), and cooking.

Anime! I love to draw, scribble, doodle haha I love using ink and Letraset Markers good way of expression, on tiny cartoonish faces :).

I play the violin very well, but carpal tunnel syndrome kept me from turning it into a career. Music was my life for most of my childhood and teenhood. I've also dabbled in a lot of different crafts, and earlier this year I discovered Etsy and set up a shop!

It combines my love of making things with my love of books.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
