What do Mitt Romney and the Ku Klux Klan have in common? A slogan - Keep America American - what does this say?

Some Romney staffer ought to get fired for this - they sure didn't do their homework before they latched onto this slogan. Unless it was on purpose....huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/13/mitt-romne... So now we go back to 1850 and 1920 to take a dig at a candidate. That's kind of petty, don't you think, and making something out of nothing? Must be a slow political news night, to come up with a stretch like this.

Did you listen to the video? Mr. Romney made a simple sentence..."We will keep America American by retaining its character as the land of opportunity"...is that racist? Is that any way or form a negative thing?

Is it not true? I guess he's got a lot of people worried now that the polls show the President dropping lower and lower so they come up with stuff like this....No surprise it's from the Huffington Post...and you complain about Fox News?! One look at the side bar and we see what kind of news they report.

Pot, meet kettle! .

It's good to know how completely you missed the point. I could care less about WHAT Romney's message was. As I wrote above, the Huffingtons and Drudges are going to leap on the connection to the KKK in order to show that Romeny's staff screwed up.

Whether you are a conservative or a liberal, doing something that references the KKK is a bad political move. That's the problem - it was a political staff mistake. ElBanditoRoso 15 days ago .

It's sad to see how completely you missed MY point. My point is that there IS no connection to the KKK in his words, and that his staff didn't screw up. You can't grab a few words from the middle of a sentence and call it a slogan.

That's just crazy.

Oh come on - this is much ado about not much of anything. Do we not love America? Don't immigrants come to America, either legally or illegally, because of the opportunities here - opportunities that are not available to them in their native countries? Why would we want to change America? Why would we not want to keep this country uniquely American?

Why would we want to change the culture of the USA, a culture which has produced freedom and a high standard of living and educational opportunities and the ability to own your own home, the ability to start your own business from scratch and become wealthy, the ability to be born into poverty and rise to dizzying heights? Tell me how many other countries offer this social mobility, the ability to move up. Didn't Barack Obama say his story is possible only in the United States of America?Keeping America American means keeping the culture American, having immigrants do now what immigrants did 100 years ago: come to the USA to become Americans; to learn to speak English; to learn the culture of America; to participate in the American dream; to see their children become American children; to see their children achieve a better life.

I submit to you that America should remain American; that we must absorb some of the flavors of the cultures of the people who come to our country to become Americans; but that unless the people who come to our country to become Americans choose to fully participate in the richness of our English / Scottish / Irish / French / Italian / Spanish / Portugese / Dutch / Norwegian / Greek / and so on cultures, adding their Mexican / Brazilian / Chinese / Japanese / Thai / and so on flavors, then this country will run the risk of splitting apart. So I say yes, keep America American........and invite the immigrants to join in this rich mixture, with each learning from the other.

Yet if any of the Conservatives dare to use a Fox link we are body slammed. Mitt Romney and KKK have nothing in common and I would not even lower myself to read that link.Do Democrat staffers ever deserve to get fired? Let me take a wild guess here... NO!

.

They wanted to use "If you're white, you're alright", but it was already taken.

Nah. I don't think so.Com/watch? V=FDwwAaVmnf4.

I'm aware it preaches twisted Biblical scripture." "Ex Ku Klux Klan Wizard, David Duke, seeks Republican nom. For president; starting a tour of states. He's very popular." (10 answers) "Why are such hate groups as the Ku Klux Klan still around?

Why aren't they made entirely illegal?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
