What do you call a bugfix which, you know very well, doesn't fix the root cause?

3 I would say "Hack" is used when talking to other programmers and "Workaround" is what is used when explaining what you did to customers/management. – Earlz Feb 16 '10 at 0:28.

I disagree with this. Your answer addresses the circumstances or temporal constraints of the fix, not its nature. – Carl Smotricz Feb 10 '10 at 14:05.

I tend to call them "band-aids". Feel free to replace with your region's most-known brand of adhesive bandages, if you like. :).

"Workaround" is the term I would suggest. "Patch" or "temporary fix". It's called a kludge.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
