I believe some day society will do away with labels. People will just be people not separated by gender so that when you apply for a job the prospective employer looks only at qualifications. There won't be any need to give age.

The only question would probably be "Are you 18 years old or over? " Any kind of label you can think like "gay," "straight," "bi" won't really matter. My girlfriend almost had an aneurism trying to convince me I'm wrong.

I don't know why she found it so upsetting but I imagine there are many who think as she does. Well, she couldn't convince me that it's impossible. Am I so wrong to think this way?

I hope so Labels don't help anyone! My boys have lots of labels on them including, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, LD, bedwetter, small, adopted, immature, just to name some. I hate them (the labels, not by boys)!

My boys are great kids and I don't use the labels with them at all. And when someone tries to just label them, like a teacher, I correct them, as they are people. Granted knowing what issues they have help to get them the help they need in school to succeed.

But you don't need to label them and then let the whole school know about it. The Labels are used to try to make a person feel better about themself by putting someone else down. And that is wrong.

Also to make generalizations about people or a "group" of people just because they are of a certain age, sexual orientation, medical condition, race, gender, poverty level, income range or such, and again that is wrong and should not be part of an advanced civilization, as those actions are not civil! I know people that have labels from mistakes they have made in their life. Be it a felon, recoverying alcoholic, sex offender (he was 18 and his GF was 17...), drug user, pot head, and more.

Again these are often used to hurt the person it applies to. And in most cases there is no need for them. Granted if the person is a violent and repeat offender then maybe a label might be needed or a classification needed to keep the public safe, but there are a lot of them that have done things that did nto harm anyone else other than themselves and they have labels on them and often for life and those labels are so broad that they make the person sound a lost worst or evil than they are.

Our society needs to get away from teh petty name calling, pain inflicting and greed and understand that for us to survice and grow as a culture we have to work together and that starts by treatign others as equals and to not keep putting them down, belittling them or screwing them over! This starts and is often allowed when kids are small, its called teasing, and it then grows as they grow and it will become part of their daily routine. That is one reason I don't allow teasing at home with my boys or any kids that are over.

A little bit of fun to give a hard time is one thing, when everyone knows its all in good fun, but nothing to hurt anyone else. And it has done wonders to their self esteem, their grades as well as overall behavior. Maybe more parents shoudl consider doing this with their kids, and lets see how much better the world is then... It all starts at home and if you want to make a change you have to start at home.

The biggest problem is eliminating the "us" and "them" mentality. If everyone realized that we are each one tiny cog in the larger scheme of things and even tinier in the super large scheme of non-things, we might be able to slide past the label thing somehow. It is important to share other viewpoints in the world and I believe that all the many cultures, in doing this, would have more understanding and less bias toward each other.

The free exchange of visitors between different cultures eases the alienation. For example, a visit to France would eliminate most Americans' ignorant views toward the wonderful French people, once time had been spent there. Negative labels are what we should aspire to eliminate but then there are exceptions to most rules.

Loving thy neighbor as thyself is very difficult when your neighbor has harmed your family or property intentionally. In this case you are won't to classify this particular neighbor as "bad", a very negative but true classification in that instance. It will likely never end but is a worthy goal to seek after, I do so believe.

Very unlikely to happen... I wouldn't say you're wrong and I certainly wouldn't say that it's impossible but I would say it's highly improbable. There are certain jobs that require you to be a certain gender so there has to be a "label" for male or female. For example, to be on the LPGA tour, you must be born a female.

If you're male, you can't play on their tour so the application would be stopped at that point. I could also see the movie industry keeping all of the labels so that they can cast a specific person to play a character, especially if the character is based on an actual person. Could you imagine Ricky Lake cast as Oprah?

Actually, it might make a funny movie but it's not realistic at all. As for a "normal" job, there's probably not much need for the labels but the government, more like the US government, really likes these labels so they can keep track of it. This way no one can get upset about not getting hired based on these labels if the proof shows there's no discremination.

I would like to see the labels go away as well but I really don't think it's going to happen. If you look back throughout history, there's always been labels whether they were written or not. It's as if it's become part of our nature to label people.

Your right those labels should be removed. I beleived that at the eand of the day, it will all just fall back on what you have than, how did you inspired others, were fulfilled, and could you say that you had a happy life. It would not be your sexuality.....

I do not think life will ever be that way. We still have hate crimes. I cannot imagine that years from now people won't care what your sex preference is.

They won't care what your skin color is or what religion you are. I think in some parts of the country their ideas have changed. They may not be as prejudice as before.

They still have the KKK in the south. So I tend to think the color of someone's skin is going to matter to some people for years to come. In a perfect world, yes.

But in our world, no. I know that all these different people is what makes our world go round. But I think your idea would be wonderful.

I just cannot imagine it happening. Sources: my opinion baitlady1398's Recommendations Business Ethics: Sunday Ethics - Monday World Amazon List Price: $78.00 Used from: $9.99 Stars in Your Bones: Emerging Signposts on Our Spiritual Journey Amazon List Price: $19.95 Used from: $47.22 .

I'm running into too many young people overqualified for the jobs they're in..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
