What do you think the biggest shocks were in week 1 of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships 2009 UK?

For me there was three main shocks: Juan Martin Del Potro: He is only 20 years old at the moment but is ranked number 5 in the world and is having a sensational year so far and at 6 foot 6 with a big serve you would imagine the grass of Wimbledon would suit him, but obviously not as former champion Lleyton Hewitt coming back from p surgery beat him in straight sets. It's not as big as shock as people may think though due to the fact Hewitt is a player with great pedigree at the SW19 Championships and Del Potro doesn't like the grass to much yet, but still to be beat so comprehensively makes this a very big shock. Svetlana Kuznetsova: For me this is probably the biggest shock of the tournament in week one because she is a fairly experienced player on the women's tour having been playing for around 8 years now and what makes her defeat to Sabine Lisicki even more shocking was that she has just won her 2nd French open title against World Number 1 Danara Safina.

The only possible explanation for losing to a non-seed such as Lisicki is that she just didn't adjust from clay to grass well enough but still this was a very big surprise. Jelena Jankovic: Jankovic is another women who has played on the tour for quite a while now and has been a solid top ten womens' player for a good time. She was not really considered a major contender for the tournament but as the number 6 seed she was expected to make the 2nd week of Wimbledon as a minimum so to lose to unseeded qualifier Melanie Oudin was very surprising and this will go down as a big shock.

The first week of Wimbledon brought lots of great action. Certainly American, Melanie Oudin's win over 6th seed, Serbian Jelena Jankovic was an amazing accomplishment for her - and for many a shock. She's only 17 and a rising player in the increasingly talented ranks of the women's tour - keep an eye out for her in the US Open Tennis Championships later this summer.

She also had great success in Fed Cup for America earlier this year.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
