What does Fifth Disease Look Like?
The fifth disease is bright red in color rash that is usually small in size. It often appears as if the person h as been slapped on the face. It tends to have a pale ring around the rash.
Fifth disease is actually just a viral illness that most kids recover from quickly and without complications.

People who have complications from fifth disease should see their healthcare provider for medical treatment. There is no vaccine or medicine that can prevent parvovirus B19 infection. Fifth disease is usually mild for children and adults who are otherwise healthy.
But, for some people, fifth disease cause serious health complications. People with weakened immune systems caused by leukemia, cancer, organ transplants, or HIV infection are at risk for serious complications from fifth disease. It can cause chronic anemia that requires medical treatment.
