What does the diabetes term MDI mean?

Virtually all type 1 diabetics (people with type 1 diabetes) and some type 2 diabetics (people with type 2 diabetes) take both basal and fast-acting insulin. This is called MDI (for multiple daily injection) or Basal/Bolus therapy. Bolus is a medical and patient slang term for an injection of fast-acting insulin taken with a meal.
