What efforts were made to find the necklace in 'The Necklace'?

They kind of gloss over this. At no time does Mme Loiselle call her friend on the phone ( phones existed at the time! ) and simply retell the entire incident- which would have saved a good deal of time and trouble, not to menton money- MAYBE , MMe Loisel had something of a Martyr complex ( akin to those with self-inflicted occupational injuries or battle wounds) the Mater Dolorosa ( sorrowful or suffering Mother) complex.

Oh look I had to work all these years to get up the necessary money- if she made a simple phone call.. oh well.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
