What feature would you really like to see on askville?

Askville well, the obvious one would be to be able to use our Askville coins for something tangible..other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. How about super Questions, (as opposed to Super Powers! ) that Askville asks occasionally and we get extra points for that?

I've always wanted a link to Amazon BEFORE you get into the actual question to see if they have the product that someone is searching for before I try to answer it. I hate to say "you can get this at Target" and then find out through the widget process that Amazon has it, too. *Poppet*'s Recommendations If You Got to Ask, You Ain't Got It!

Amazon List Price: $34.98 Used from: $27.91 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 3 reviews) .

Most of all... better information on what our answers got rated. ( and more SupeRPoweRs! ) Just a big list with the most points at the top is kinda lame.

Sort it by most recent, or post the answer ratings in a better way that makes it more apparant that there are results from my input. Also: I would like to see a better means of returning to the questions at the place I left off when I answered a question.

Something done with our points I like this site for the great information I've been able to get from various people. So much knowledge out there. I have to say some great person directed me to an artist I admire, and I have now spoken on the phone to the artist, received several emails from her, and have ordered a picture from her.

That is great! But what I'd like to see on Askville is something done with these elusive points--quest coins--we are earning. It doesn't matter if they exist or not--the information is great by itself, but I'd like to know why we earn coins..

A link or set of links that match "help" subjects, prior to the question being asked to help the reduce repetition, etc.

I'd like to see a regional filter/section like on Craig's List I think it would be nice if questions (no matter their topic) could be divided by region. Also, if any questions delt with a city, say Washington, DC, then it could be lumped in with others dealing with the DC metro area, maybe even Baltimore. The way it is right now, the topic terms are too specific.

This brings me to my next topic. The topic terms are too specific. For instance, if you put in book this doesn't equate to books.

I guess, I'm saying that plurals, alternate/mis- spellings, and even synonyms should be linked to each other. Sources: craigslist.com .

" "what is your fave feature on askville?" "I am suggesting a new Askville feature. Tell me what you think. " "Do you have any feature requests for Askville?" "Shouldn't Askville have a search feature?

Or maybe it does and I don't know? " "How long before Askville rescinds the annonymous feature?

I am suggesting a new Askville feature. Tell me what you think.

I personally really like the option to select recommendation products within answers. I like it because there are so many people with different opinions about which products are best - and the only way to get word out there (sometimes) is by visual recommendation rather than by using words. Which is also why adding how-to video's or other interesting tid-bits for recommending is so cool!

Sometimes the only way for others to find out about helpful products or services is by word-of-mouth, so when people ask askville for advice - you know you're getting the best response available. I like it! So what's your favorite feature?

What is your least favorite feature? What feature is missing from askville? Discuss!

Askville Favorites What a fun question for me! There are many features of Askville that I consider great. One that always sticks out in my mind is the auto-save feature when writing an answer.

If I stop writing this answer for whatever reason, even if my computer crashes, it will almost always be saved for me for when I return to it! I think that is a great feature;on other sites I’ve been to if you stop writing and don’t save it (if they even have a save feature) you lose it all. I like to be able to work on an answer and stop if I need to, then come back and work on it with new ideas, or maybe even just the right word to make a sentence more effective. It’s so frustrating to write a long answer and lose it all, and this features helps that kind of situation!

If you see the "Draft Saved at 3:00" at the bottom of the page, then you know you are safe! And I agree, adding "widgets" is a great Askville feature, URL2 makes a big difference in being able to illustrate you answer with photos, products, and videos. A lot of us are very visual and enjoy actually seeing what you are referring to in your answers, and Askville widgets provide that.

When someone is looking for something, you can show them exactly what they need or are looking for, to make sure you are in sync with the asker. I love being able to see film clips about songs and movies that are being discussed in the answers, and seeing "how to" videos to explain things. Very helpful!

The discussion boards can be a great feature, although they can also cause problems, as that is where the personalities come out. But all in all, the discussion area is what makes Askville a community. We can argue and disagree, but at least it facilitates the exchange of opinions and information.

We can better see who thinks along similar routes as ourself, and get to know each other better. I really enjoy one of our newest features, the Bonus Questions. It brings a lot more info here to go through, and keeps the questions flowing; something that is needed as the regular question askers often get into a "lull" and the questions are limited or aren’t interesting to me personally.

I’ve learned a lot of new things due to the Bonus Questions that I had no idea about before, so I think they are great. At this point I think I am answering more bonus questions than regular ones. The current event ones are the more interesting for me. Least favorite: hmmmm...the Town Hall feature, and the voting on questions feature. It’s not that they are bad, but don’t really serve a purpose here.

Missing: the thumbs up AND down feature for questions. We have the thumbs up, but it’s useless with out the corresponding thumbs down. That means you are either in favor of something or can’t vote at all, which is hardly a fair representation.

My most favorite feature is a pleasing question... I love a question that gives me a chance to reminisce, to visit the past, perhaps tell a small story to answer the question. These questions are jewels and they are hard to find. You also have to be quick because the slots are rapidly taken.

I sometimes try to ask them but in doing so, I understand how hard it is to find an original one. My least favorite feature is, of course, the customer relation question. I very, very rarely can answer them and even if I can, they are often asking about policy or a response from Amazon and I cannot answer for Amazon.

Since this is also a question, I would add that I also dislike the discussion that morphs into a vicious personality driven set of bickering responses. Reminds me of the old audio comedy routine called "the Bickerson's". The missing feature is the ability to download your responses to your computer.

I really treasure a lot of the interactions and the materials passed back and forth and hate the thought that if the plug is pulled some day, it will all disappear. I would also like to see a way to categorize this material. Now that I'm on the topic, I would also love a way to search Askville full-text or by any word or set of words.

That would be something. Good question. Thannisan's Recommendations The Bickersons (Golden Age Radio Blockbusters) Used from: $13.89 great stuff!.

1 This is going to sound strange, but the one thing I cannot STAND is the option to recommend products! I balk at doing free advertising and promotion for amazon. The feature I like best is being able to look at others profiles.

I find it funny how users opinions and behavior change the longer they have been here, and get comfortable with the other users here. BTW- you really sound like an amazon sales rep! I would ask you if you are management, but you asked what our favorite and least favorite features are, and since I know for a fact that amazon doesn't care about what we think, you cannot be staff.

2 My favorite feature is the Discussion Boards. That's where I hang-out with friends. This user has been banned from Askville.

3 No - I'm not staff. :) I'm a very visual learner, I love to write, and I enjoy hearing others opinion from a rather wide range of topics. I love to learn!

And askville definitely has a aura to it unable to be found on other website; thus, creating a community that is very devoted to the site! I really like that. Something I should add here too, stating the obvious, askville is *similar* but very different than answers.yahoo.Com because of the answers received!

Here it seems like the answer's I get (for the most part) are very in depth, extremely informative, and offer more than just a quick blurb from random people. While everyone here is essentially "random" to me, the responses I get here seem to best any other website offering "live-human-answer's". Diversity of answers is always a plus too, to get all information available from several different and possibly experienced individuals in whatever topic anyone happens to ask about.

As a young adult learning about life in a growing world, a changing economy, and a world with such complexity, I think this website is sure to bring something to the table that no other website has done. Which is just one more reason to enjoy being here!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
