What happens when we drop a hunting rifle with a scope.?

I always say there is a difference between a Hunter and a Sportsman. In my personal thinking, a Sportsman can apply high moral, and ethical standards. Even when no one is looking.

It is up to each to apply right and wrong. Could a person, would a person, who shot their Deer in the manner you describe be proud of a great hunt? Explain the " slobbery " to others?

( sorry slobery is likely a me-ism ) I would be ashamed of myself, so would never even consider such a thing. You ARE SPEAKING of the taking of a life. I do not ever take that lightly.

Yes, many do such things, and think nothing of it. There you are, the difference between a Hunter and a Sportsman defined in a very stark contrast. A bird hunter if a Sportsman NEVER shoots a bird such as a Pheasant on the ground.

Never shoots at a Hen Pheasant ( unless at "special places it is allowed ). My feeling is that as a Sportsman, having the skill, you can get all the game you want, and do it observing all laws, and the high ethics of a Sportsman. There is no need to "cheat".

Really the rules only make the hunt more of a challenge for those who are truly good hunters. As I have said here before, coming home empty handed is no shame. Hunting is more about the pleasure of a day afield, and days spent with your fellow Sportsmen and Women.

Many times when one chooses to lower their gun, let a shot go because it was too easy, not fair, or maybe even dangerous, well, I look at that as far more honorable then a bird in the bag. Shame comes to slobs, who cheat at the Sport. Just like a cheater at any game.

I DO NOT AND WILL NOT HUNT WITH SLOBS. I still get to enjoy loads of great wild game dinners too. ADDED : In the interest of full disclosure, I do buy the tags, do carry my firearm and join in Deer hunts with friends, I have NO thought of shooting at a Deer however.

Just honest in the matter, I do not shoot at Deer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
