What is a healthy snack food that can be eaten in relatively large quantities? Please explain?

Please explain. Recently I was led to believe that (unsalted) sunflower seeds were such a food. I consumed them heavily.

My cholesterol level rose markedly. I am not positive these seeds were the culprit. But, my cholesterol came back down after giving up on sunflower seeds.

I'm looking for healthy snacks that won't turn my skin orange if I eat a lot of them. Any and all ideas are welcome. Asked by curious7777777 35 months ago Similar questions: healthy snack food eaten large quantities explain Food & Drink > Food.

Nothing is healthy when you eat too much, but.. plain air popped popcorn is one, I'm sure a lot of people will tell you that. Rice cakes are good if you like them, and I do , but not the flavored ones, that adds all the calories back in. Any fruit, if you cut it up and leave it in the crisper is good, you feel full, and you chew a lot, and that part is important to us snackers.

Likewise celery sticks, you can eat a whole celery but it might be too much fiber for you. You can eat a whole head of lettuce! I think a head of iceberg has about 9 calories without dressing.

Just chunk it up and snack on! Melon is very good, and good for you. Tastes great too!

I like those rice snacks that are small shapes, taste a bit like soy sauce and is called oriental mix. Unfortunately, they seem to have too many calories to eat as much as I want. I don't know what is in them that could be fattening, but I looked on the label.

Raw nuts are good but you should not eat more than a quarter cup a day or the calories will pile up but 28 almonds (a lot of chewing ) will give you a load of calcium and antioxidants and omega oil for the day! Pecans and walnuts are great too, but not if you have fudge or brownies under them. I like crispix cereal dry, it's crunchy, has a low glycemic index because no wheat, and it feels snacky.

You can mix it with nuts and dry fruits and seasonings, and it's like chex mix meets granola. I am not sure why the seeds would give you bad cholesterol, in fact, it might have boosted your good cholesterol, but if your bad ch. Was high that might put the whole score too high.

Maybe you ate too many. I used to eat them in my dorm room mixed with honey, and I gained 40 lbs in one semester! I don't know what it is about them, but they did me no good either.

Anyway, I hope there is something that will work for you here.

Sunflower seeds don't have any cholesterol. But they are extremely high in fat. Maybe your good cholesterol skyrocketed?

A healthy snack is low carb, low fat, low cholesterol, low sodium: raw vegetables. Chop up some yellow, red and orange bell peppers, brocolli, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, Walla onions (sweet), etc. If you can have a lot of carbs, fresh fruit is excellent. I call fruit Mother Nature's snack food.

I would suggest popcorn. But, you can’t eat the fatty oily stuff in the microwave bags if you want it to stay low-calorie. However, if you stick some unpopped popcorn with a little bit of oil in a glass pot with a lid and microwave it on high until there are 2 seconds between each pop (no more or it will burn), in just a few minutes (about 3 minutes, depending on your microwave and how much popcorn you are popping) you will have a tasty, high fiber snack that won’t increase your cholesterol.

Watch out for the steam! It's a doozy. I probably don’t have to say this, but don’t put anything metal in your microwave.

A little boring always eating the same seed or food, mix it up! I assume what you mean by skin turning orange you at one time ate nothing but carrots..:@) I usually have a mix of carrots, cucumber, paprika’s (yellow, red, green, orange), celery, tomato, radish, sweet red onion rings, zuccinin yellow & green and the seasonal fruits in my lunch box. All vegetables fresh can be sliced and usually stand on their own for flavor except celery add a little S&P a touch not much or none and they are all healthy!

If you feel a need for taste use yogurt any flavor to your taste also is a great for dipping your fresh cut veggies. The grocery stores all usually have dried fruits like raisins, dates, apricots go through and choose what you like. You can take canned fruits also, here you need to drain away the juice and use as snacks.

I like the exotic fruit cocktail, pineapple slices, fruit cocktail! It is always best to mix your snacks up eating the same snack food all the time can become boring and your body never really benefits by mixing it up your body receives different vitamin and mineral intake! If you are a snacking machine this might be the site for you, they sell by the pound and in larger quantities check it out!

Snacks.... How about Grapes Or popcorn. Most fruits and veggies are doable to have a lot of ..... Dried fruit is ok. I have a quantity issue myself.

Everything in moderation is the key. Good Luck! .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
