An ISBN number is basically like a bar-code number that gives a certain item its uniqueness. An ISBN number contains a lot of numbers and can be found, if a textbook, inside the cover.

Every book has an isbn number. It's usually located inside the book where the copyright information is. This is the number that is given to the book, sort of an inventory number, that only that book has.
