What is the best grad school for education majors. I am currently at National but have some concerns. What is the best grad school for education majors.

I am currently at National but have some concerns. The teachers are mostly great and I am learning a lot from them. My concern is more with some of the ways the school is run.

Before I get too far into the program (I may be there already I have 44 units) I am starting to ask around. Asked by Melanie70 45 months ago Similar questions: grad school education majors National concerns Education & Reference.

Rankings should always be taken with several grains of salt... ...but, here is a ranking of graduate education departments by USN&WR using 2006 data: gradschool.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.... The top schools are: Teacher’s College, Columbia University Stanford U Harvard U Vanderbilt U UCLA U of Michigan Northwestern U UC-Berkeley U of Washington U of Wisconsin U of Pennsylvania U of Oregon U of Minnesota Michigan State U NYU U of Texas Indiana U Ohio State U USC U of Kansas U of Maryland Boston College UNC U of Virginia U of Illinois/Urbana-Champaign ...etc... In addition to rankings, I would want to know about the student teaching opportunities. For example, on the East Coast, Harvard GSE and NYU would be among the top-ranked schools. Either would be great if you were aiming for a career in education research, and would also benefit you as a future teacher; think Howard Gardner.

But if you were aiming to become a teacher at the secondary or primary level, on the East Coast I would recommend Columbia Teachers College, because you would have the opportunity to do your student teaching at the Bank Street School. That experience would probably do more to make you a better teacher than all the lectures at Harvard and NYU put together. I don't know what's best in California, but I would recommend that when you ask about other schools, you try to find out who is the coordinator of student teaching assignments and speak with them..

A place on the web where you can find graduate schools based on rank, needs, major and area. The site that I found - gradschools.com/" rel="nofollow">gradschools.com/ - proved to me to be a vital source of information of grad schools on the internet. It gives you information access to millions of schools both national and international.

I was able to narrow down my search to what kind of education major - in your case special education - , region/state and tuition costs. Also on each school after it turns up your search provides you with a link for more information. In that area it gives you more information as to how the program is run, what techniques they use and the ranking of the school.

I hope this helps you. Good Luck! Sources: gradschools.com/" rel="nofollow">gradschools.com/ .
