What is the best quality audio system (2.1 or 5.1) that can double as PC speaker system and a home theater?

I like my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system. It is a 3 piece system (2 satellites and a subwoofer) and it has the quality you would expect from a superior speaker manufacturer like Klipsch. I use mine with my computer.. have also hooked it up to a wireless USB system that allows me to input audio from any source that has a stereo outjack -- including iPods, iPhone etc.The Klipsch fill the room, with rich, clear mid and low range tones, and clear upper range sound too.

It blows the socks off Logitech, Creative studios and other computer brands. The Best thing about Klipsch is that they are totally affordable and can serve as your main speakers (for smaller homes). You can get refurbed units from the manf for about $85-100.

New about $ $100-140 for the 2.1 system. But with any good speakers, they are only as good as the signal you are sending to it. They sound great when streaming radio shows, like LeoLaporte's TWiT , podcasts, Hulu, and itunes etc. Playing MP3s ripped at 128kbps (vs a CD) won't sound great on ANY speakers.

However, playing CDs and DVD movies through the Klipsch speakers sound great. They're great speakers for gamers too. http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-2-1.aspx Klipsch also makes a higher performing system called the 5.1 (it may be discontinued, but adds about $50-70.

But if you find a set, they're good performers for Home Theatre.) http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-5-1.aspx Review of 5.1 system - http://www.computer-speakers-reviews.com/computer-speakers-reviews/klipsch-promedia-ultra-5.1-computer-speaker-review.html Klipsch has a new line of HD Theatre systems suitable for Home Theatre. I think the 2.1 Systems are better at serving as both a Theatre and computer speaker system. (It mostly depends on how and where-- how close your computer is to your AV Theatre equipment.) The HD systems are a lot more money.

Starting at about $320 for the HD 300 up to $1300 for their top theatre HD sound system. The Audiophile Klipsch Theatre sound systems go up to $3400ish (and are worth it if money is not an obstacle.) http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/hd-theater-300.aspx Read a review from one blogger (not me) here: http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/1603 I've been very happy with my speakers and have received a lot of compliments from guests on the sound quality. Also, Klipsch are speakers for life.

If anything happens to them, you can send them to Klipsch (for a fee) and they will repair them (back to like new quality.) Service is outstanding, in my experience.

The Klipsch 2.1 Promedia is a wonderful system. I've owned two of them for several years. The Klipsch 5.1 system was discontinued & though they sounded great were prone to faulty amps, so I wouldn't recommend getting one of those even if you do find one.

If you do need 5.1 I'd recommend the Logitech Z-5500. I've owned that unit for a year & really love its fidelity. It's only capable of AC3 (via passthrough only via optical or coax) & not DTS, so you need to gauge your use of filetypes, but it's the best bang for the buck.

Klipsch 2.1 is available at Best Buy for a good price if you catch a sale and Logitech 5500 amazon.com/Logitech-THX-Certified-505-Wa....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
