I like most things, but I strongly dislike a jewish food we have called gefilte fish. I can't stand the stuff; it's slimy and tastes horrible.
I have two on my list: pickled herring and duck blood soup (a polish dish made with blood, other stuff and vinegar), neither is a taste treat.
You must first know that I am an avid coffee drinker. I begin my day with a cup of coffee, and seem to have a permanent crook in my fingers. I drink coffee all day long, right up until bedtime, even as I am setting up the morning pot!
One of my Grandmothers had a, ( then modern) stove top percolator.........which she never, ever emptied. She simply rebrewed, added new grounds, and rebrewed, time after time, after time again. As a young adult, I went to visit her, and she offered me a cup of coffee, or a cup of sludge that would have propelled a diesel truck before emission standards..........God, forgive for this ly, I simply said,......." No Mam', I no longer drink coffee"..........it WAS that bad.......
Mashed Turnips! My father loved turnips. To me turnips always tasted bitter and horrible!
They were the big Yellow, waxy turnips. I do OK with the white and purple turnips. But keep those big yellow, waxy ones away from me.
That's easy. "Liver. " I don't care how you cook it you can't get rid of the smell or taste.
Disgusting!
I have to agree with you Seeker7 it was tripe for me as well. I live in Brazil and went to a restaurant and didn't realize what I was ordering. It looked wonderful but for me it was the texture. It was awful.
Poi. There is nothing attractive or tasty when it comes to poi, and in my lifetime, I've only seen two people eat it. They actually ate it with their fingers and finished eating their little bowls of the stuff.
I think I would have to choose and say any kind of offal, with some seafood coming a close second. But offal I will choose because my father gave me a horrid memory of it. I was about 8 years old also.My parents were divorced, and I was at my father's.
I refused to eat a steak and kidney pie. As an adult I would eat it as I can tell which is the kidney and would simply remove it. However, as much as I would try this as a child, I would always get a nasty shock.
So my extremely strict father put me this pie out. When I refused it was put out for my evening meal. I went to bed hungry and still, in the morning, you guessed it, the pie was breakfast.
Luckily for me, he was calling my bluff and knew it was dangerous to let me eat it. But that memory made the foul taste even worse.
Lamb.. I tried an I hated it.. never ever again . *ppl cant say I never tried it now. Lol.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
