What is the optimum proportion for disk space between the C and D partitions?

It doesn't really matter, except that by default, almost all programs install to C: and give you no choice about it. There is a registry setting that will send them anywhere else you like, but even at that an awful lot of stuff tends to use C: for all kinds of storage. Therefore, you do NOT want C: to be too small.

If you want to create a backup copy of the Main HD, it is necessary to have 50% each. But if your intention is just to keep important files, you need to evaluate the formats in which they are. If documents, texts, presentations, spreadsheets and files scanned.

You can use the other partition of the "security" with 35%. But if multimedia files such as photos or videos. I advise you leave the other participation with more than 60%.

I use 70% as another drive. Ja that most programs I install are light and do not occupy much of the main participations.

There is no optimum proportion. The same amount of Gb would be a different proportion on different sized disks. Pcunix is correct.

And, BTW, it REALLY pssses me off when I do not have a choice of install location.

There is no such thing as ideal proportion between C & D. The idea behind distinguishing the two partition is to help you store different types of files in different locations. Ideally the C will contain all your program/system files that is required run your computer.

The D partition is used to store personal stuff like, music, movie, docs etc. Usually 40GB of space is good for C drive for program files. The remaining you can keep for your personal use and further partition it into E, F and many more depending on how you want to organize your space. This is the blind leading the blind. Sorry, but your answer makes no sense I fear. Thanks for trying, though.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
