What is the point of daylight savings? Is there a good reason that we reset our clocks twice a year?

Most human activities are safer and more economical when assisted by daylight. Ideally, we would set are alarm clocks to wake us up slightly before dawn, and adjust our clocks every day to keep time with the seasons. Or, we could allow roosters or uncurtained windows to wake us up.

People who farm, hunt, fish, even fight for a living always did and still do go by the sun itself. But, those of us with modern industrial and commercial jobs are expected to work 9 to 5 (or something similar) every work day. The shops and factories do not shift when they open to match the seasons.

Daylight Savings time is the solution that the government came up with to deal with the inflexibility of modern businesses. It forces them to change, at least twice a year, even if they don't realize they are doing it. Daylight Savings is one small way that government regulation reduces the abuse of ordinary workers and people by businesses.

The period of daylight and night varies according to the seasons and the latitude, so changing the clocks makes it so that more sunlight is during regular hours of the day. Here is why daylight hours need to correspond to regular hours that we are all awake: 1. It saves energy.

When we're awake, we're more likely to have our TVs, VCRs, and lights on (among other home appliances). By shifting the hours we're likely to be awake to correspond with the daylight outside, we're less likely to have the lights on, so we use less electricity. 2.It saves lives.

When people's waking hours correspond with daylight hours, they're safer. Traffic accidents, for example, are less likely when it's light out.3.It cuts down on crime. Crime tends to happen after dark.

As is the case with accidents, people are less likely to fall victim to crime when their waking hours are synched up with the sun.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
