Yeah, I live in Dubai, U.A.E., and I wondered whether you knew that Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are pro-American. They would never attack their benefactor. Bin Laden was kicked out of and later wanted in Saudi Arabia because he disagreed with their pro-American policy, namely in letting Americans into "sacred soil" to invade Iraq instead of letting him and his boys defend Kuwait back in 1991, which drove him to engage in terror attacks against America and American client states like Egypt.
Additionally, most of those hijackers lived and studied in America or other Western countries and were radicalized there, probably due to cultural discrimination and support for oppressive policies of America to Muslim nations. Bin Laden's stated hate for the United States comes from what he witnessed during the 1982 Lebanon War, where America backed Israel and thousands of Muslims were killed. His objectives are apparently causing the United States to go bankrupt like the Soviet Union in Afghanistan during the Cold War, by driving them to invade and spend more on wars.
He said this only in 2004, so whether he planned this from the start is disputable. However, the 1.2 trillion dollars wasted so far on the two wars as well as the back up for Israel's constant operations no doubt had a hand in the current recession, albeit partially. But his main reasons for attacking Americans is because he wants the current pro-American units in the Muslim world to lose their back up, leaving him to attack them freely and establish a Taliban style theocracy at least in Saudi Arabia, but he probably wouldn't stop there.
You must also understand that his organization Al Qaida is the enemy of everyone, including rogue states, with the exception of the Taliban in Afghanistan and other non-state actors, and possibly neutral with others. Al Qaida is founded by Saudi Arabia's number one dissident, and the U.A.E. is pro-Saudi as they are both Gulf Arab states. So attacking countries based on nationalities is ridiculous even if you're using them as a mock example.
Bear in mind that the Taliban never attacked anyone outside of Afghanistan; they are probably furious with Al Qaida now that they've gotten the Americans angry, which lost them their government of the country. Americans still rushed to invading the country though even though Afghanistan agreed to cooperate based on evidence, or try Bin Laden in an Islamic court (which under Sharia would get him the death penalty). So America basically turned the country into ruins and gave Bin Laden cover to escape in order to extend the war, establish its dominion of resources and politics, show off its power and prepare for the next war... Of course Bush had been planning to attack Iraq due to their alleged WMD's, but it was mainly about oil and securing it from the populous China and the recovering Russia.
Iraq had began trading oil in euros which would've also damaged the American dollar severely. But of course it was ridiculous not to invade the country hosting the perpetrators of 9/11 first. Two was better than just one for Bush, I guess.
The United States had been trying to get Iraq since the 1950's after then President Qasim turned pro-Soviet. Saddam became an American agent in his 20's, helped assassinate Qassim with the Baathist, rose in power and finally assumed Presidency in 1979, the same year Iran turned Islamist under Khomeini. Saddam was then used to attack Iran in 1980-1988 backed by America, the Soviets, and the Gulf Arabs.
He thought he had American back up when he attacked Kuwait too in 1990 due to economic provocations by Kuwait but that got him into bad international relations since Kuwait is a popular friend of the United States and Saudi Arabia, so he was attacked in 1991. The Americans then had been after Iraq with sanctions and bombings ever since. Likely causes are his oil, enmity with the Gulf states after his bickerings with Kuwait, his threats to Israel and his boasts of mastery of nuclear technology and attempts to build weapons.
The job was finally finished in 2003. As far as conspiracy theories go, I don't live in America and I don't know how plausible they are; I'm sure Americans know more about it than I do and if they say the government had a role in the attacks, then they probably have good reasons. However, Bin Laden has good motives for the attacks, and his neo-Wahhabist Quttbi influences seem to encourage him to carry out such acts, so he was probably involved one way or another.
One, I didn't agree with the war in Iraq. I just wanted to point that out right away. Two: You're right, let's go invade wealthy nuclear powers.
Smart idea. Besides, Saudi Arabia is our ally...You don't go to war with a country because some of its citizens do something bad.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
