What one bit of advice do you have for controlling weight without actually dieting?

You can eat anything you want if you cut down portion size and ate according to package label equivalent of "1 serving".(At least with this method you can eat everything, just not as much as you may be accustom to eating of it. )Exercise or walk at least 30 minutes daily and weigh yourself every morning. No matter how fancy the "diet" is the only way anyone loses weight is to burn more calories than they take in.

Best of luck!

The previous hubber gave a great answer, but I would add that you should eat enough fiber foods. These kinds of food make you feel fuller so you eat less. Also, fiber absorbs fat in the digestive system and carries it out of the body so it doesn't end up on the hips.

A bonus benefit is that fiber is good in preventing several diseases, especially heart disease.

What has worked best for me is just watching my calories and reading labels I still eat what I want but I just remember to take in fewer calories than my body burns in a day. And to see your base metabolic rate, there are lots calculaters on the internet.

Don't eat processed food - better to inject fat directly.

You can follow these complex answers or you can acknowledge that the simplest answer is the best. Not because it is simple, but because many scientific studies confirm that weight balance is a matter of calories in calories out. Know how many calories you burn every day, don't eat more than this amount.

That is all.

I did a hub on this a short while ago: hubpages.com/hub/Avoiding-Christmas-Holi..., to answer your question, my personal experience to keeping my weight down comes down to what's in my shopping basket and portion control. This is something that should be done ALL the time and I also notice it with slim people, they tend not to eat big portions. There will always be times when you get to 'over-indulge' but hopefully by then, you would have been used to eating the healthier and smaller portions that you won't beat yourself up afterwards.

Shopping basket::::: take the healthier options (e.g. Extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable oil, baked chips instead of fried, etc) and the smaller pack sizes. You are basically stopping yourself have the foods readily available to reach whenever you want it. If you do have it, it will be smaller.

Smaller Portions::::: whether healthy or not, you are what you eat when it comes to portions. Assign yourself to eating with smaller sized plates that restricts you from piling on the food. Alcohol::::I basically have none, if I do, it is less than 10 times a year especially if it's a cocktail mix I've never tried then just want to see what it is like.

I was raised by my parents with Alcohol but just didn't like how it made me feel and stopped drinking it. Exercise::::: this is not really dieting but you have to get your metabolism going with the little things like walking instead of driving, taking stairs instead of lifts, etc. I like going to the gym as it clears my head but I realise it can be tedious so I can't just say to everyone "you must go to the gym!", if you can, great, if you can't, find the little ways to get your system pumping. I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to diet or eat lots of fruits and I don't like vegetables but I stay a small size always by doing these things.

I am no freak about my food being natural or not, it's hard to determine what is completely natural if you are buying it from someone else and not making it yourself.

Drink a lot of water soozeqsh. You will be able to fill your stomach with 0 calories and hydrate your body. You should also eat peanuts so whenever you feel hungry so that you would not have to reach for that fatty chocolate cake.

You should also eat wheat bread because it is high in dietary fiber which makes you eat less and gives you a great digestion.

Portion control is one of the most important things when it comes to weight maintenance. Sticking to the right amount of food and not overeating will help you maintain your weight. Exercise is also very important. It helps to boost your metabolism and help you to burn calories, even in your sleep.

So if you watch what you eat and you ensure that your body is in calorie burning mode (through exercise), you will maintain your weight.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
