More than likely, it could still be interpreted as illegal, but you can easily make audio from those DVD's or video More than likely, it could still be interpreted as illegal, but you can easily make audio from those DVD's or video using tools like DVD Shrink. I have no knowledge of those types of tools but I've heard DVD Shrink is straightforward and can be used to replicate a DVD for universal play on most DVD players. If you just want the audio track, then you can use SoundRecorder32 (if you have Windows) and the application is calld "Sound Recorder Accessory" or just sndrec32.exe.

SoundRecorder allows you to create a 60 second audio file, but also has simple insert and delete capabilities. So if you have to record audio longer than 60 seconds, you can can create an initial 60 second recording of anything and save the file, then use the Edit / Insert file menu to find the 60 second file you just created and insert it into itself. You won't receive a "file in use error" or anything like that, if you're computer is underpowered nad has little free RAM, you may receive a memory space error Now, save the file using File / Save and you know have a two minute audio file which can be used as your template audio file.

If you need more space, then re-insert your 120 second file into itself and continue to double the size of your template until you're satsified you have enough audio lenght to record. Next, open up two instances of Volume Control or sndvl32. Exe, because one is your audio output mixer and the other is your audio input / Recording volume mixer.

From one of the instances of Sndvl32. Exe, select the File / Properties menu and select the Recording Radio button so, you have a basic recording studio ready to go, adjut your volume and recording slider levels to low or medium. Also, turn off any email applications, chat applications and other communication or other programs that generate alert sounds of new contact or events.

If your recording session is interrupted by the New Email sound or an MSN Chat note, those computer notification sounds will also be stamped onto your song or video recording. As long you don't have the computer external mic turned on, you can peform this recording session inside any noisy room or even underneath an running jet engine since you aren't monitoring ambient room noise. Very important, set the main Volume slider once and leave it alone since moving the Volume slider generates a feedback sound in XP and Vista until you disable it or delete the sound file.

Adjusting that volume slider during your recording session will also stamp onto your finished product. Cue up your media to the beginning of the song you'd like to record (assuming you are using media which can't be easily ripped) Then use sndrec32. Exe to begin your recording, HOPEFULLY YOU ALREADY KNOW WHICH BUTTON TO PUSH TO START RECORDING /// IF YOU DON'T THEN YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS RECORDING ANYTHING EXCEPT YOUR EXPRESSION WHEN YOU FINALLY LEARN WHERE BABIES REALLY COME FROM AND THAT Santa Claus can't fit down your chimney.

During the recording, you can adjust the slider controls to emphasize peaks in the melody, you should experiment to determine the thresholds of your computers mixer since excessive volume or mic sensitivity will result in noise (that hissing sound you sometimes hear in your old crappy audio tapes that you've been using to placate your children in the mini-van until you figure out how to fav up your DVD collection). Make some sample recordings and note the levels you've set the volume and mic sensitivty then label and play those recordings in your van and the other audio systems you plan on using these in the most. This will let you determine the thresholds before nose ruins your recordings and you'll be able to adjust your audio levels to your limits while enhancing the crescendos in your recordings and properly down bass'ng the lows..

Here's a software that you can use. imtoo.com/dvd-audio-ripper.html Sources: internet .

1 I use DVD shrink to make backups that get thrown around the car. They are complete backups though. The car has 3 screens in it, so I do want to keep the video track.

What I'm hoping for is a way to grab 1 or more A/V tracks off several disks to make a compilation for the road. I'll look again at shrink and see if I can identify the tracks individually. It may work.

" "I want to be able to rip dvds to my hard drive for the kids to watch on long car rides. Then be able to burn them later.

I am looking for a box to put between two dvds to make back up copies of dvds.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
