What type of accounting or "checks and balances" do you employ when it comes to your credit card and bank statements?

1 I use Quicken and download transactions from my credit card / bank web page. I have credit card receipts back more than 20 years now. If I want a date when I bought something I have it and the place and the price.

Sometimes those are hard to correlate with your actual place of purchase...

I use credit for everything to maximize my rewards. I don't ever carry any balances, I just use the credit to get free rewards and cash back. Ever since I got my first card, I always saved every receipt and compared each transaction to me statement for verification.

Then I totaled them all up and validated the amount. Each statement would contain the receipts along with it, filed away. Now that I'm married and the wife has cards, this has been increasingly harder to do.

I just never find time to keep up with it. Another issue I've run into, is when I need to use the warranty on something and they are requiring the receipt or date of purchase. It can be difficult to find if you don't remember when you made the purchase and with what card.

I have been able to refute unauthorized charges made to my card by comparing using this method. I had a waitress take a $22 tip on a $15 meal once. All in all though, it is also very time consuming.Do you do any verification?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
