Fortunately there are now a number of types of facilities that are able to provide excellent care for your loved one. These include Alzheimer’s Assisted Living Facilities and specialized Memory Care Units in nursing homes. The critical component of these units is not the label “Alzheimer’s Care Unit” or “Memory Impaired Unit” but whether the staff of such a unit has undergone special training in caring for memory-impaired individuals.
An Alzheimer’s Assisted Living Facility will be appropriate for individuals who can still provide basic self-care activities, such as eating, dressing and getting in and out of bed, for themselves. A Memory Impaired Unit in a nursing home will be appropriate for individuals who now need assistance in feeding, dressing and getting in and out of bed for themselves. One suggestion is that you visit such units with a friend or a relative, both for support and so that you can share thoughts and impressions about the facility.
I recommend that you plan to visit several such units before placement of your loved one becomes necessary. Thereby you will be able to choose in advance the kind of facility that meets your requirements—a clean, homelike atmosphere, with staff trained to assist memory-impaired patients with whatever activities they require. Then, when the time comes to place your loved one in a facility, you will be assured that you have made the best choice possible.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
