What would your reaction be if one of your children came to you and told you they were gay?

Nothing....I loved them before I knew,..I love my children unconditionally ,gender doesn't make them less loved and I would hope that if it ever happened my children would have the knowledge that no matter what, I love them!

Thank you guys for all the feedback. I agree completely, I love my children unconditionally. Will always love them for who they are no matter the circumstance.

Love to see many parents feel the same.

II would be thank-full that my child #1 would feel that the relationship was safe enough to confident in his parents rather than hiding it and having to deal with it on his own, which by the way can lead to many horrible outcomes for kids. #2 the love that a parent has for a child is to raise them for who they are and to have them be a happy person and go out into the world and make it a better place regardless of their sexual preference.

I got verification that my son was gay when he was in the 9th grade. He didn't come to me and tell me, but rather responded to a direct question that I asked. When he responded that he was, indeed, gay, I told him that first and foremost I loved him, had always loved him and would always love him - just the way he is.

He is a healthy, smart hard-working guy with a great personality. I love him as he is, without regard to his sexuality. I told him I was proud of him and glad he was my son and that I wouldn't change him or trade him for anything. As far as I know, he is the only gay member of my family.

There was a time of "readjustment" for me, as I came to terms with the fact that he wouldn't be living out the "get married to a nice girl and have grandkids" thing. But I became adjusted to that fact after a while. Hope that helps...

I would probably feel like I had been punched in the gut, but I would make sure my child knew that my love doesn't go away, no matter what. I would probably have to meditate a bit to achieve serenity, but I would make the effort to accept my child's partner because my child chose him/her.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
