What's something we consider normal now that future generations will consider immoral?

War. There is more slavery today than at any time in human history.

Hopefully homophobia will be considered to be immoral by society, and people will have the right to marry other consenting adults regardless of who sees it as "gross".

Trashing the planet. EDIT: Osnap, I like your answer. Do you wonder if it will be considered immoral to have too many children?

Our population is already out of control. I wonder if Chinese single child laws will be the norm someday.

Denying certain populations the right to marry.

Liberals and atheists welcoming Muslims with open arms although they are incompatible with the West and want to destroy Western culture and KILL ALL ATHEISTS.

According to Steven Pinker (and others), the process of civilization moving from brutal to humanitarian goes like this: 1. Elimination of slavery 2. Economic eqality and literacy 3.

Women and children being granted equal status and protection as men 4. Elimination of capitol punishment 5. Animals seen as viable creatures in their own right, not just a resource.

I think state sponsored capitol punishment will be viewed as crude and immoral in future generations. Likewise, everyone not having equal access to healthcare, particurally in 3ed world countries.

Bashing gay people and not letting them get married will be immoral. People will look at it just like they look at racial segregation and inter-racial marriages today.

My guess is this, those who worship God will be considered delusional now, then immoral in the future by those powers that be. Religion will be seen as abomination to Science..but who took the initiative in freeing the slaves..is it the Godless or those Who believe in God.?

The meat industry hopefully (it's not as bad as slavery, but hopefully will be considered bad). Wage slavery hopefully (once again, not as bad as actual slavery, but still bad). We feel inside us already when things are bad.

We know it, and living against our own conscience's is causing a lot of suffering to oppressed and oppressor. God bless.

I sometimes wonder that. I think it may be eating meat and not giving enough to starving nations.

Intellectual property, the idea that copiable information is something that can be 'owned'.

War, for one. Homophobia, definitely. (Well, it's not really considered -normal- now, but it's not as taboo as racism or anything.) Add xenophobia and sexism to the list.

(Only blatant sexism is taboo. If I made a joke about "all men being lazy pigs" to someone they would probably either laugh and agree, or just not say anything. If I said someone was "acting like a girl" I would get a similar reaction.

There is still PLENTY of sexism in society that we think is perfectly normal....ugh. ) At the moment, xenophobia....depending on the country, is either as taboo as racism, or is considered patriotic, so.... In theme with the previous few....just excluding anybody just for being different in general. People THINK that isn't normal now, but just ask anybody who is gay or transgender or dresses differently or talks differently or likes things that are not mainstream or does anything that is not consistent with their gender role (see sexism) etc etc ET CETERA.

Trying to outlaw reproductive choice (abortion, birth control, etc) or control a person's reproductive decisions in any way, definitely. Pollution, I'm sure. Especially considering the way climate change is going.

Anti-secularism. I include religious indoctrination of children in this.BULLYING. ^Just a few things I can think of.

EDIT: @fabulous hair india I would hope such laws would not be the norm. Due to the current population problem (which will, without a doubt, be MUCH worse in the future considering the way we are heading) I believe it will be considered immoral to have too many children. However, I find laws that control how many children one can have to be just as immoral, if not more so.

I'm not good at explaining myself sometimes. I suppose it's like this.... Just because something is immoral, does not mean it should be illegal. As an example...I think using hate speech is immoral. There are plenty of slurs out there that make me especially sick.

However, the only thing that would upset me more....would be if hate speech was outlawed, only because it violates the principle of free speech.Rather...I think education on safe-sex practices would be the best remedy in this situation. Cut out a significant portion of unplanned pregnancies and I would be shocked if the population -didn't- drop. Not that I am an expert, of course, but it seems like a good approach to me.

Nothing bad ever came from wiping out ignorance, right? :).

Abortion in my opinion. Oh and greedy corporations.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
