What's the difference between majoring in geology and engineering for petroleum related careers?

If you intend to go into the petroleum industry after graduating from college, Geology and Engineering will offer very different career paths in this industry. For example, if you major in Geology, you will be involved in the mapping and planning of oil resources for the company. You will be monitoring the statuses of various wells that your company potentially owns, as well as discover potential spots for drilling.In addition, you will also work together with the civil engineer to discover better ways of drilling for oil.

If you decide to go into Engineering, you can either go into Civil Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
