When a single mother applying for food stamps does it automatically put the father on child support?

I don't think so with food stamps. But if they start getting cash assistance, then they would probably go after child support to pay back to DSHS what DSHS is paying the mom for the child.

Depends where you live. In new york no not for food stamps....only if you apply for public assistance but if you put the father on your case for public assistance he will not be asked for child support. Also if he contributes anything to you he will not be asked for child support.

It's supposed to initiate a child support case for the father of the child. Any type of assistance like that from the state (or federal government) is supposed to initiate a child support case. You should be getting child support, why wouldn't you want it?
