When did the saber tooth tiger live?

The subfamily that included all saber toothed cats, Machairodontinae, evolved during the Oligocene series, about 28 million years ago. The Oligocene is part of the Paleogene system. They became extinct about 10,000 years ago, at the end of the Pleistocene series, which was part of the Quaternary system.

All of these times were part of the Cenozoic period.
