2 I think you are maybe getting the US labor market confused with that of other countries. In the US, in engineering, you will probably need a degree but there is no hard rule on that except in certain fields. Your degree from another country may be fine.

Your real problem is finding a job. What you have to do is convince an employer you can do the job he requires. If all you have is a degree and no real work experience that will be tough.

The minute you stop being useful to your boss or the minute he doesn't need you anymore you are fired (sometimes called layed off). No one is hired just to be "on staff" anymore.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
