Apart from new or distinctly American holidays, like the 4th of July (Independence Day), Thanksgiving, MLK Day, President’s Day, etc, most holidays celebrated in the U.S. Originated in Europe because most founding Americans originated in Europe. Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, New Year’s, etc, all originated elsewhere. In some respects, how they’re celebrated, with Christmas trees and stockings or by dressing up and Trick or Treating, can also be linked to other countries.
I believe Christmas trees developed in Germany, where the trees were outside trees that were decorated for the holiday. Halloween originated as a pagan celebration known as Samhain, a Celtic harvest festival, that was later linked to All Saint’s Day/ All Soul’s Day, a Catholic feast day that commemorates the departed. Other holidays, like Hanukkah, the Day of the Dead, or Chinese New Year are also celebrated in the United States, although much less widely, but did not originate in Europe.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
