In 1945 Byron Nelson won 11 consecutive tournaments on the PGA Tour. He won a total of 18 events that year on tour, the most in a single season in the history of the PGA Tour. He won Phoenix Open, Corpus Christi Open, New Orleans Open, Charlotte Open, Greater Greensboro Open, Durham Open, Atlanta Open, Montreal Open, Philadelphia Inquirer, Chicago Victory National Open, Tam O'Shanter Open, Canadian Open, Knoxville Invitational, Esmeralda Open, Seattle Open, Glen Garden Invitational and Miami Four-ball.
Byron Nelson was born on February 4, 1912 in Waxahachie, Texas. He won 54 tournaments and retired from full time competition in 1946 at the age of 34. S last official victory was at the 1952 Bing Crosby Pro-Am.
Later in his life he became an honorary starter at The Masters. Byron Nelson died on September 26, 2006 at the age of 94.
