Which president do believe had the greatest lasting impact on the United States? Please give details about their life and their presidency?

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States( March 1861) and the first Republican President abolished slavery in the United States under severe opposition amidst Civil War even though he was assassinated in April 1865. S presidency had made America great and today American people had shown to the world that US, a country of democracy ruled by the citizen of US and not by black or white. Lincoln was born on Feb12, 1809 to Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks, two uneducated farmers of Kentucky.

Abraham Lincoln was a country Lawyer, an Illinois state legislator, a member of the US House of Representatives. He joined politics at the age 23 and he was successful to get the nomination from Republican Party in 1960 and after wining the election he became the President of the United States in March, 1861.

Lincoln was a traitor. He instituted the first military draft (conscription slavery) to fight his civil war ("war between the states", "the war of northern aggression"). S war was not about slavery.

He like other corrupt politicians, needed a "popular cause" such as that to hang his campaign on.

Another reason was to "preserve the union". The states, under the Constitution, had the right to secede. The states, under the Constitution, had "appointed" the Federal government to handle a certain LIMITED number of jobs, such as providing a common defense.

For many reasons, not room here to discuss, many of the southern states wanted out.

As with all politicians, power is the goal. Pressure had been building for decades to get the Federal government more power. Lincoln did it, in "spades".

He turned the country from a union of united states (no upper case letters) into the United States, where the ultimate power no longer lay with the states, but with a powerful Federal (central) government.

We see the results of that, today. There is no check on Federal power, and the states are mere franchises of the Federal government. Lincoln laid the groundwork for the abuses of all subsequent regimes, up to and including Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, not to mention both Roosevelts, Wilson, and others.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
