Who is responsible for the removal of a tree that fell from my neighbor's yard into mine?

The tree fell during a storm. The roots and base of the tree are in my neighbor's yard but the bulk of it is in my yard. I don't know if the laws/rules vary from state to state but I am in georgia.

Your neighbor, or perhaps the government It is your neighbors tree, it is there responsibility to take care of it. However, if they disagree, or want a second opinion, your local government might help you clear the tree away, you could also call your alderman, or city council member and ask for their advice on the situation. Just know that other than getting someone to do their job, it isn't your job to do the job.Yeah... that makes sense in a wierd way doesn't it..

If it fell from his property, it's his responsibility After Hurricane Katrina my friend in Louisiana had an issue with her neighbor and a tree which fell on her house. They had to find out who's insurance was going to cover the damage, and it turned out to be the neighbor's problem. I was curious and looked up how it works in other states as well, and in all the states it was the person who's property the tree was originally on who had to pay for it's removal and any damage.

Sources: My knowledge .

I 'm sure they will get around to clearing it,I don't think they wat roots and mess in their own yard .

1 mangotango, regarding your answer "if it was my tree and it feel in my neighbors yard..":ive never met them (they are on the street behind me and ive been making friends with the neighbors on my street since I moved in in january)... unfortunately, I doubt they will do anything left to their own devices... theyve had a big blue tarp on top of their house for at least 12 months so I don't think maintenance and repair are high on their list of things to do .

2 Both of the top two answers are wrong in every state in the union *unless* it can be proven that the neighbors knew or had cause to know the tree was an imminent threat (diseased, dead, etc. ). The property onto which the tree fell is responsible for the damage. IANAL, so don't take my word for it.

Do, however, trust that these other folks that say that the neighbor is responsible ARE INCORRECT. So, to answer your question, *you* are responsible. Cheers,Robert Reese~ .

What tree would be attractive in my front yard.

Manual for Y20V50 yard pro riding Lawn mower.

Does anyone know where I can get a Yellow NOT pink grapefruit tree for my yard.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
