In historical terms, it is an example of a genre known as apocalyptic literature. The symbolism was understood by the original intended audience and historians know that it was a disguised polemic against Roman rule and expressed the hope that God would cause the downfall of Rome. The Beast is usually thought to be Nero, though other emperors are likely possibilities Many centuries later, no one understands the original symbolism any more so preachers make up interpretations that suit their own beliefs. No one understands it, but most who believe that it's prophecy about our own time believe that they understand it and believe that the Holy Spirit gave them their own personal interpretation.
Oddly enough, those personal interpretations don't match up too well, especially when compared to interpretations from a few hundred years ago.
The “Appointed Time” Is Near LIKE the prophet Habakkuk, the disciples of Jesus yearned to see an end to suffering. Having learned what the Kingdom of God would do to correct matters on earth, they asked Jesus: “When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence in Kingdom power and of the conclusion of the system of things? ” (Matthew 24:3) In reply, Jesus said that only Jehovah God knew the precise time when the Kingdom would take full control of the earth.(Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:32) However, Jesus and others did foretell certain developments that would show that the time was near.

In some 236 lands, more than seven million Witnesses are telling people what the Kingdom will do, and they are helping them to conform to the righteous requirements of God, whose will it is to end suffering and pain. Continue to learn about God’s Kingdom.

In a nutshell . Jesus is the victor, and no matter what satan does between now and the end of the world as long as we fight him we will win, with jesus , it is guaranteed.
They are historical, revelation describes what was happening at the time it was written in symbolic terms.
They are literall. Only they happen In heaven so we can't see them happening . However we can see what they cause here in earth.
The book of Revelations is clearly the ravings of a madman.
It means it is all being revealed and such.
