The first Mughal Emperor of India was Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur, a descendant of Amir Timur. He defeated the Delhi Sultan Ibrahim Lodi in the battle of Panipat in 1526 and established the Mughal Empire in India. He won the battle of Khanwa against Rana Sangram Singh in 1527.

In the battle of Ghagra (1529), he defeated the Afghan confederates. Thus he became the master of India and ruled till 1530.
