Why are entry-level service jobs, such as retail, fast-food, minimum-wage paying jobs so picky and choosy?

There are plenty of entry level jobs. Two things could be going on: there is just a huge applicant pool where ever you are; 2. Something you are doing is not working for you.

How is your resumes? Your interview skills? You dress for interviews?

Communication skills? Etc etc. Can you visit a career center (depends on your school if applicable) or ask a instructor to help you? Can you take a course to buff up your resume?

You need to talk to someone who can help.

Unfortuneately, I guess volunteering is the only route to go.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
